Shaheen Afridi Unhappy With PCB's Statement Regarding Babar Azam

Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi strongly responded to his dismissal as T20I captain, as the PCB grapples with a fresh crisis related to a statement attributed to the 23-year-old.

Pakistan’s top player, Babar Azam, was reinstated as the captain for white-ball cricket before the T20 World Cup, prompting Afridi to assert that a quote falsely attributed to him about Babar Azam’s captaincy appointment was circulating.

Expressing his discontent, Afridi made these remarks before his second meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The controversy stemmed from Babar Azam’s anticipated return as captain, with Afridi expressing dissatisfaction over how his removal was handled by the cricket board.

Tensions escalated when the PCB issued a statement quoting Afridi as endorsing Babar Azam’s leadership, prompting Afridi to promptly distance himself from it.

Both Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam are presently undergoing training at a camp in Kakul under the Pakistan Army, with plans to address the issue with the PCB chief.
