Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan has broken India opener Abhishek Sharma’s record for the most runs in a three-match bilateral T20 International series between full-member nations.
Sahibzada Farhan achieved the milestone during Pakistan’s home series against Sri Lanka. He scored half-centuries in all three matches, delivering an impressive performance in his first home assignment as Pakistan’s full-time T20I captain.
The right-handed batter scored 238 runs across the series at an average of 79.33. He maintained a strike rate of 165.27 and received the Player of the Series award.
His total surpassed Abhishek Sharma’s previous record of 229 runs in a three-match bilateral T20I series between full-member nations. Sharma had established the record during India’s home series against Afghanistan earlier this year.
The Indian opener scored at an average of 76.33, including one century and one half-century. Farhan’s consistent performances across all three matches helped him move ahead of that mark.
Farhan Starts Series With Match-Winning Knock
Sahibzada Farhan began the series with a strong performance in the opening match. He scored 89 runs from 53 deliveries, hitting 10 fours and four sixes.
His innings played a key role in Pakistan’s successful chase of Sri Lanka’s target of 183 runs. Pakistan secured a four-wicket victory to take an early lead in the series.
Farhan continued his impressive form in the second T20I. He scored 73 runs off just 44 balls, helping Pakistan post a total of 215 for three wickets.
Sri Lanka struggled during the chase and managed only 133 runs for seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Pakistan won the match convincingly and secured the series.
Consistent Batting Earns Player of the Series Award
The Pakistan captain maintained his scoring momentum in the third and final match. He made 76 runs from 47 balls, contributing to Pakistan’s competitive total.
However, Sri Lanka responded strongly during their chase and secured a victory in the final match. The result gave the visitors a consolation win despite Pakistan taking the series.
Although Pakistan lost the final game, Farhan’s individual performance remained a major highlight. His three consecutive half-centuries helped him finish with 238 runs.
The record also highlighted his consistency throughout the series. His high average and strike rate reflected his ability to score quickly while contributing substantial runs.
Record-Breaking Series for Pakistan Captain
Farhan’s achievement marked a significant milestone in bilateral T20I cricket between full-member nations. He surpassed a record previously held by one of India’s leading young batters.
His performance also provided Pakistan with a strong batting contribution during the series. Scoring heavily in all three matches helped him secure the individual award.
