Sahibzada Farhan has spoken about the key transformation behind his rise as one of the most aggressive T20 openers. The Multan Sultans star is currently in strong form during PSL 11.
Sahibzada Farhan said a major change in mindset improved his performance. He explained that focusing on strike rate and power-hitting helped him adapt to modern T20 demands. He now plays with more intent from the start of innings.
He has been in excellent form since 2025. He has scored heavily across T20 matches and hit more sixes than many leading batters. His consistency has made him one of the standout players in domestic and international cricket.
Since returning to the national side in May last year, Sahibzada Farhan has scored 1,219 T20I runs. He averages 35.85 with a strike rate of 140.92. These numbers reflect his improved approach in shorter formats.
Record Performance in T20 World Cup 2026
Sahibzada Farhan also delivered a record-breaking performance in the T20 World Cup 2026. He scored 383 runs in the tournament. His strike rate was an impressive 160.25.
He also hit two centuries in just six innings during the event held in Sri Lanka. This performance brought him major attention on the global stage.
Farhan admitted that earlier in his career, he often felt pressure to perform. This affected his natural game and consistency. Over time, he shifted his focus toward enjoying his batting.
Advice That Changed His Career
The batter revealed that teammate Iftikhar Ahmed played an important role in his improvement. According to Farhan, Iftikhar advised him that a strike rate of 132 was not enough for an opening batter.
Sahibzada Farhan initially disagreed with the feedback. He felt his run-scoring record in domestic cricket was strong. However, he later understood the importance of scoring faster in T20 cricket.
He then worked to raise his strike rate closer to 150. He started focusing more on boundary hitting and aggressive starts in powerplay overs.
Farhan also set personal goals to become a top six-hitter in every tournament. He increased his training intensity and focused heavily on power-hitting practice.
Continuous Improvement in His Game
Farhan’s aggressive approach was clearly visible in major tournaments like the Asia Cup 2025. He gained attention for playing attacking shots against top-quality bowlers.
He also highlighted facing Jasprit Bumrah as a key learning moment. He said such performances boosted his confidence at the highest level.
Despite his progress, Sahibzada Farhan admitted that strike rotation is still an area to improve. He is currently working on better singles and soft-hand batting.
