The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rain in Karachi on September 14 and 15 as a new weather system is expected to affect Sindh next week.
According to the weather department, a developing system over the Bay of Bengal is taking the shape of a depression. The system is expected to move westward, which could bring a fresh spell of rain to Karachi and several other districts of Sindh.
The Met Office said a low-pressure area is currently located over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha. Its expected westward movement could influence weather conditions in different parts of Pakistan during the coming days.
Karachi is likely to experience strong winds, thunderstorms and rainfall on September 14 and 15. The expected weather spell could provide some relief from the ongoing hot conditions in the city.
However, residents will have to deal with high temperatures before the rain begins. The weather department expects temperatures in Karachi to remain high during the next two days. Citizens may therefore experience intense heat before the arrival of the new weather system.

Meanwhile, Lahore is also continuing to experience hot weather. Low wind speeds are making the conditions feel warmer, while the city is expected to remain hot and dry during the day.
The maximum temperature in Lahore is forecast to reach 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 27 degrees Celsius. The ongoing hot conditions are likely to continue in the short term.
Weather conditions could change as the Bay of Bengal system develops and moves further west. Karachi residents, particularly those planning outdoor activities for September 14 and 15, may need to keep an eye on updated forecasts.
