The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has sealed 1,037 illegal clinics across Punjab as part of an ongoing crackdown on unauthorized medical practices. The operation aims to stop unqualified practitioners and healthcare facilities from providing medical services without proper authorization.
According to a commission spokesperson, enforcement teams inspected 3,457 premises during the province-wide campaign. Officials said inspections and enforcement activities were continuing in several districts to identify illegal healthcare facilities and take action against those operating outside the law.
The latest figures show that Lahore recorded the highest number of closures, followed by Gujranwala and Multan. The crackdown has also covered Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha and several other districts.
Lahore Records the Highest Number of Closures
Lahore topped the list with 220 premises sealed during the operation. Gujranwala ranked second, with 111 unauthorized healthcare facilities closed by enforcement teams. Multan followed closely, where authorities sealed 107 illegal clinics.
The figures highlight the scale of enforcement activities in some of Punjab’s major urban centres. The commission is inspecting healthcare establishments to determine whether they meet the required legal and regulatory standards.
Authorities have not provided further details about the individual clinics or practitioners involved in the latest action.
Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Other Districts Also Affected
The crackdown has extended to several other districts across Punjab. PHC teams sealed 64 premises in Rawalpindi and 63 in Faisalabad. Dera Ghazi Khan recorded 55 closures, while 50 premises were sealed in Sargodha.
Enforcement teams also closed 35 premises in Sheikhupura and 31 in Sahiwal. The remaining 301 closures were reported across other districts that were not individually identified in the commission’s statement.
These figures bring the provincial total to 1,037 sealed premises out of the 3,457 inspected during the operation.
PHC Continues Action Against Illegal Medical Practices
The Punjab Healthcare Commission is continuing its campaign against unqualified medical practitioners and unauthorized healthcare facilities. The operation focuses on identifying establishments that provide medical services without meeting the required legal conditions.
Illegal medical practices can put patients at risk, particularly when treatment is provided by people who lack the necessary qualifications or training. Patients may also face difficulties seeking accountability if they receive unsafe or inappropriate treatment at unauthorized facilities.
Through inspections and enforcement measures, the commission aims to improve oversight of healthcare services and ensure that medical facilities follow applicable regulations.
Inspection Timeline and Further Details Awaited
The commission has not specified the exact period covered by the latest inspection figures. It has also not released a complete district-wise breakdown of all the closures.
Further details about the remaining inspected premises have not been provided. The figures currently available confirm that 1,037 premises were sealed, while 2,420 inspected premises were not included in the reported closure total. This does not necessarily mean all of them were operating legally, as the commission has not explained the outcome of every inspection.
The PHC has confirmed that enforcement activities are continuing across Punjab. More information about future inspections and closures may be released as the operation progresses.
