The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a facility allowing freelancers to register VPNs using their mobile numbers. This initiative ensures secure and uninterrupted VPN usage for freelancers who lack static IP addresses.
Users can now register their mobile numbers for VPN usage via PTA’s online portal at https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk. The step aims to simplify the VPN registration process, especially for IT professionals and freelancers. To date, over 31,000 VPNs have been registered through this platform.

The move comes as Pakistani authorities intensify efforts to regulate and block unauthorized VPN services to prevent illegal activities. This crackdown has raised concerns among freelancers and businesses relying on VPNs for secure internet access.
In response, PTA has streamlined the process for VPN registration and IP whitelisting to support legitimate users. This update is tailored to meet the needs of professionals requiring VPNs for secure communications, online work, or video conferencing.
This initiative reflects PTA’s commitment to fostering secure and accessible internet solutions while maintaining regulatory compliance.
