President-elect Zardari, in turn, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the support extended by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) during the presidential election. The exchange of felicitations and appreciation underscored the collaborative efforts between the political leaders. On the same day, Asif Ali Zardari, who ran as the joint candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N, secured victory and was elected as the 14th President of Pakistan. This achievement marked his second term in the presidential office, contributing to a significant milestone in the parliamentary history of the country.

Zardari clinched the majority of votes from the electoral college, which encompasses members from the parliament and provincial assemblies. This electoral triumph paved the way for him to take on the responsibilities of the President of Pakistan once again. During the election process, Asif Ali Zardari secured a substantial 411 votes, affirming widespread support from the electoral college. In contrast, the candidate backed by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Mehmood Khan Achakzai — also supported by PTI independents — garnered only 181 votes, indicating a notable difference in favor of Zardari.

In the joint sitting of the National Assembly and Senate, the coalition government’s nominee, Asif Ali Zardari, received a significant endorsement with 255 votes. Meanwhile, the SIC-backed candidate, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, managed to secure a comparatively lower count of 119 votes. This disparity in voting results further emphasized the popularity and confidence bestowed upon Zardari by the elected representatives.

The collaborative efforts between the PPP and PML-N, as evidenced by their joint candidacy, reflected a strategic alignment in the political landscape. The success of Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election highlighted not only his personal achievements but also the strength of the alliance between these political entities.

As the newly elected President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari is poised to undertake the responsibilities of the office for the second time, bringing with him a wealth of experience and political acumen. The congratulatory visit from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the importance of fostering positive relationships and cooperation among key political figures in the country, contributing to the stability and functioning of the democratic process.
