Investigators probing the murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali have identified the presence of suspicious motorcyclists near the location where his body was found, as the investigation continues to uncover new leads.
Mir Raza, an IBA graduate, returned home from his shop on the night of July 28 before leaving again, telling his family he would return within 10 minutes. His body was later discovered in bushes in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi.
According to investigative sources, an initial medical assessment found that Mir Raza died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators are also examining the possibility that the fatal shot may have been fired from behind as part of the ongoing forensic investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that Mir Raza had taken a security guard’s weapon before the incident. However, the missing 30-bore pistol remains one of the central focuses of the investigation. Police have not yet recovered the weapon or any spent bullet casings from the crime scene.
Investigators have recovered Mir Raza’s mobile phone and a pistol holster approximately 200 yards from where his body was found. Both items have been sent for forensic examination, while officials expect the mobile phone’s forensic report within the next one to two days.
Police are also reconstructing Mir Raza’s final movements using CCTV footage. Authorities believe footage recorded at around 4:38 a.m. showing him walking alone near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 is the last known video of him before his death.
Sources said Mir Raza had around Rs40,000 before his death, although he reportedly left home carrying only Rs1,000 in cash. His smartwatch, wallet, and car were left behind. Investigators are also examining claims that he owed money to several individuals, while more than 15 people have recorded statements during the inquiry.
Meanwhile, Mir Raza’s father has alleged that his son was murdered as part of a premeditated plan. He also claimed the family received threats from an international phone number after the incident and urged authorities to identify those responsible, expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation.
