Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and Member of the National Assembly Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar has passed away after a prolonged illness, his family confirmed.
According to family members, the veteran politician had been unwell for several weeks. They said he suffered a brain hemorrhage and underwent surgery following the medical emergency. Despite medical treatment, he could not recover.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar. In his condolence message, the prime minister paid tribute to the late politician’s services and contributions to Pakistan’s political landscape.
The prime minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. He prayed that Allah grants the family patience and strength during this difficult time.
Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar was a senior PML-N leader and served as a Member of the National Assembly. Throughout his political career, he remained associated with the party and played an active role in public affairs.
He was also the father of Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar, who has been serving in the provincial legislature. Political leaders and supporters have continued to express condolences following the news of his passing.
The family confirmed his death and said details regarding his funeral prayers and burial arrangements would be announced separately. Messages of sympathy have continued to pour in from political figures and members of the public.
