The PCB has officially released the schedule for the inaugural National Champions Cup. The seven-match List A tournament will be played from 11 August to 18 August at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The competition will open Pakistan’s 2026-27 domestic cricket season. It is also expected to help the national team prepare for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
According to the PCB, all matches will be played as day-night fixtures. Every game will begin at 3:00 PM.
Four Teams to Compete
The tournament will feature four teams. These are Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites, Pakistan Blues, and Pakistan Gold.
Each team will play every other team once in a single round-robin format. After the league stage, the top two teams on the points table will qualify for the final.
The championship match is scheduled for 18 August at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Captains and Team Lineups
The PCB has already confirmed the playing XIs for all four teams. The squads will be led by some of Pakistan’s leading cricketers.
Shadab Khan will captain one side, while Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the remaining teams.
The tournament is expected to provide quality competition among some of the country’s top domestic players.
National Champions Cup 2026 Schedule
The opening match will take place on 11 August, with Pakistan Greens facing Pakistan Whites.
On 12 August, Pakistan Blues will play Pakistan Gold.
The third match will be held on 13 August, featuring Pakistan Blues against Pakistan Whites.
On 14 August, Pakistan Gold will meet Pakistan Greens.
The fifth league match is scheduled for 15 August, when Pakistan Blues will face Pakistan Greens.
The final league-stage fixture will be played on 16 August between Pakistan Gold and Pakistan Whites.
The tournament final will take place on 18 August, with the top two teams competing for the title.
Every match will be hosted at the Multan Cricket Stadium, and each game will begin at 3:00 PM.
Importance of the Tournament
The National Champions Cup is an important addition to Pakistan’s domestic cricket calendar. It gives players another opportunity to perform in competitive 50-over cricket.
According to the PCB, the event will also help national selectors evaluate the country’s leading domestic performers. Strong performances in the tournament could improve a player’s chances of future national selection.
