The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has announced the fee structure for Pakistani e-passports, with charges depending on the passport’s validity period, number of pages and processing category.
Applicants can choose between five-year and 10-year e-passports. They can also select normal or urgent processing according to their needs. The fees differ significantly between the two processing categories, particularly for passports with longer validity and more pages.
Five-Year E-Passport Fees
For a five-year e-passport with 36 pages, the normal processing fee is Rs. 9,000. Applicants choosing the 72-page option must pay Rs. 16,500 under normal processing.
Those who need their passports processed urgently will have to pay higher charges. The urgent fee for a 36-page e-passport is Rs. 15,000, while a 72-page passport costs Rs. 27,000.
The 72-page option may be suitable for frequent travellers who require more space for visas and entry or exit stamps.
Ten-Year E-Passport Fees
Applicants looking for a longer validity period can apply for a 10-year e-passport. The normal fee for a 36-page passport is Rs. 13,500, while the 72-page version costs Rs. 24,750.
Under urgent processing, the fee for a 36-page, 10-year e-passport is Rs. 22,500. Applicants choosing a 72-page passport with the same validity period must pay Rs. 40,500.
The 10-year option carries higher upfront costs than the five-year passport. However, applicants should consider their travel needs and eligibility when deciding which validity period to choose.
Normal and Urgent Processing
The fee structure gives applicants different options based on how quickly they need their passports. Normal processing has lower charges, while urgent processing costs more.
Before applying, citizens should confirm the applicable fees and processing requirements through the official Directorate General of Immigration and Passports channels. They should also check whether any additional service charges apply to their application.
Applicants are advised to select the correct passport validity, page count and processing category before submitting their applications and paying the required fee.
