Rainfall across several parts of Lahore has brought relief from smog and turned the weather pleasant. Showers early in the morning lowered temperatures and created cooler conditions across the city.
The current temperature was reported at 25°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 27°C. The minimum temperature was recorded at 21°C. The rainfall has also brought a noticeable chill to the air.
According to the weather forecast, intermittent rain is expected to continue in Lahore until tomorrow. Temperatures may remain relatively mild over the next few days following the showers.
Rain Reported Across Several Areas
Light to heavy rainfall was reported in different parts of Lahore, including Gulberg, Kalma Chowk, Barkat Market, Cavalry Ground, Shadman, Defence and Mall Road. Surrounding areas also received rain.
The showers provided temporary relief from the city’s pollution and improved the overall weather conditions. Residents experienced cooler temperatures after the rainfall, while further intermittent showers could bring additional relief.
Lahore’s Air Quality Improves After Rain
Rainfall has also contributed to an improvement in Lahore’s air quality. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was reported at 69 following the showers, placing Lahore at 49th position on the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
An earlier update had reported an AQI of 153, indicating a significant difference between the two reported readings. The Meteorological Department also linked the improvement in air quality to the rainfall.
However, air quality can change throughout the day depending on weather conditions, traffic emissions and other sources of pollution. Residents should continue to monitor updated air quality readings, particularly if pollution levels rise again.
Hot and Dry Weather Expected Next Week
Despite the current relief, the pleasant weather may not last long. The Meteorological Department has forecast no rain in Lahore next week, with hot and dry conditions expected to return.
Until then, intermittent showers forecast through tomorrow may help keep temperatures relatively mild. The recent rainfall has provided temporary relief from smog, but residents may face warmer conditions once the dry weather returns.
