NADRA launches almost 100% accurate AFIS ‘NADIR’

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched NADIR, a new biometric system with an accuracy rate greater than 99.5%.

NADIR, which was created by NADRA’s software engineers, places Pakistan among the few countries that provide a biometrics Automated Finger Identification System (AFIS).

Tariq Malik, NADRA’s Chairman, made the announcement on Twitter. According to NADRA Chairman, this technology is expected to revolutionise the way biometric identification is used in civil applications.

According to the Chairman’s announcement, NADIR’s accuracy rate has been tested and proven to be greater than 99.5% based on the Fingerprint Verification Competition (FVC), an internationally recognised benchmarking event held in Italy.

The establishment of NADIR is an important step towards strengthening the country’s security infrastructure and providing more secure and dependable identification systems.
