The Lahore Sessions Judge has directed magistrates to clear all pending traffic challan cases within one month. The order aims to reduce the backlog and speed up the handling of traffic-related cases across Lahore.
Sessions Judge Tariq Khursheed Khawaja issued a formal notification outlining the instructions. Magistrates have been directed to complete the pending cases within the given deadline.
The notification also requires magistrates to submit monthly reports on the disposal of traffic challan cases. These reports will help authorities monitor progress and assess whether the backlog is being cleared on time.
Magistrates Assigned to Different Courts
Under the new arrangement, traffic sectors have been distributed among magistrates at three courts in Lahore. These include District Katcheri, Cantt Katcheri, and Model Town Katcheri.
The notification specifies the number of magistrates assigned to each court. District Katcheri has been allocated 17 magistrates to hear and dispose of traffic challan cases.
Meanwhile, 12 magistrates have been assigned to Cantt Katcheri. Another 12 magistrates will handle the cases at Model Town Katcheri.
This distribution is intended to support the timely disposal of pending cases. Assigning magistrates across the three locations will help organize the workload and improve case management.
One-Month Deadline for Pending Cases
The Lahore Sessions Judge has set a clear one-month deadline for magistrates to resolve all outstanding traffic challan cases. The directive applies to pending cases covered by the notification.
Magistrates must also provide monthly updates on their progress. The reporting requirement will allow the relevant authorities to track case disposal and review performance.
Traffic challan cases can accumulate when proceedings remain unresolved for extended periods. Clearing the backlog within the specified period is expected to help courts manage these cases more efficiently.
The latest directive places responsibility on magistrates to complete the assigned work within the deadline. Their monthly reports will provide updates on the number of cases disposed of.
Focus on Faster Case Disposal
The order introduces a coordinated approach to handling pending traffic challan cases in Lahore. It covers three major court locations and assigns a specific number of magistrates to each.
The one-month deadline establishes a clear timeline for completing the pending workload. Monthly reporting will also help authorities monitor implementation of the instructions.
The notification does not provide a separate breakdown of the total number of pending traffic challan cases. It also does not specify any additional penalties for failing to meet the deadline.
