Laborer Rescued after 17 days in a marble mine in Mardan has surprised many people across the region. The incident took place in the Nangabad area of Rustam Tehsil, where a landslide trapped several workers during mining activities.

Abdul Wahab, the trapped worker, was buried under soil and heavy stones when the mountain collapsed on March 31. Rescue teams worked continuously for over two weeks to reach him. Their efforts finally succeeded when the Laborer Rescued was brought out alive, marking a rare survival story.

According to rescue officials, the landslide caused heavy damage at the site. Several workers were trapped under the rubble immediately after the collapse. Initial rescue efforts managed to pull out some individuals, but many remained buried deep under debris.

The incident, however, resulted in serious losses. At least nine workers lost their lives in the landslide. Three others were injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Rescue 1122 teams confirmed that a total of 12 individuals were recovered from the site during the operation.

Officials stated that the rescue work was challenging due to the large amount of debris and unstable conditions in the mine. Heavy machinery and trained personnel were used throughout the operation to ensure safety and efficiency.

Shafi Jan, special assistant to the provincial chief minister, expressed condolences to the families of those who died. He said that the government stands with the affected families during this difficult time. He also appreciated the efforts of rescue teams who continued operations despite the risks.
