Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has effectively discontinued the KIA Picanto in Pakistan after removing the hatchback from its official vehicle lineup and closing new bookings, marking the end of the model’s nearly six-year presence in the local market.
Although the company has not issued an official announcement, the KIA Picanto has been removed from LMC’s website, and customers can no longer place new orders, indicating that the hatchback is no longer available for sale.
LMC launched the locally assembled KIA Picanto in September 2019, positioning it as a fuel-efficient city car with modern features for urban drivers. The model entered Pakistan’s competitive hatchback segment with the aim of offering an alternative to established rivals.
Despite an encouraging launch, the Picanto struggled to secure a significant share of the market. Industry observers attribute its discontinuation to consistently weak sales, while many buyers also cited its comparatively lower resale value and limited availability of spare parts.
The hatchback also faced strong competition from rival models that offered lower prices, better resale value, wider after-sales service networks, and easier access to replacement parts. These factors gradually reduced the Picanto’s appeal among Pakistani consumers.
While the model has been discontinued locally, Kia continues to sell the updated third-generation Picanto in several international markets. The latest version features a refreshed exterior design, upgraded lighting, an improved interior, enhanced technology, and additional safety features.
Lucky Motor has not yet announced whether another compact hatchback will replace the Picanto in its Pakistani lineup.
