Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan is reportedly set to collaborate with Bhansali Productions for an upcoming film, marking a potential reunion more than a decade after her association with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela ended before production.
According to reports, filmmaker and writer Aatish Kapadia is expected to direct the upcoming project, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reportedly attached to the film as producer rather than director.
If confirmed, the project would mark Kareena’s first reported collaboration with Bhansali Productions and bring the actor into a new creative partnership after her earlier association with Bhansali’s 2013 film.
Aatish Kapadia Reportedly Set to Direct
The reported choice of Aatish Kapadia as director has attracted attention because of his background in television and comedy.
Kapadia is known for his work on popular Indian television shows including Khichdi, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby.
His reported involvement represents a different creative direction from the grand period dramas and visually elaborate productions that audiences commonly associate with Bhansali.
The upcoming film is therefore expected to offer a different kind of collaboration between Kapadia, Kareena and Bhansali Productions.
However, details regarding the project’s genre, storyline and overall creative approach have not yet been officially disclosed.
Bhansali to Produce the Project
While Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reportedly attached to the film, he is expected to serve as producer rather than director.
The project is reportedly scheduled to move into pre-production after Bhansali completes work on Love & War, his upcoming film featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
Further details about the production schedule are expected to emerge once the film formally enters development.
At present, the supporting cast, shooting locations and release date have not been officially announced.
Kareena and Bhansali’s Earlier Collaboration That Never Happened
The reported new project has particular significance because Kareena Kapoor was previously associated with Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
Kareena was originally expected to star opposite Ranveer Singh in the 2013 film. Bhansali had confirmed the pairing before production.
However, reports at the time said that scheduling conflicts and contractual issues resulted in Kareena leaving the project shortly before filming began.
Deepika Padukone subsequently replaced her opposite Ranveer Singh.
The film went on to become a major production in Bhansali’s filmography and helped establish the Ranveer-Deepika pairing as one of Bollywood’s notable on-screen combinations.
More Than a Decade Later
The reported Bhansali Productions project could now give Kareena an opportunity to work with the production house more than 13 years after the Ram-Leela casting developments.
For fans familiar with the history surrounding the 2013 film, the new project has naturally generated curiosity about what Kareena and Bhansali Productions might create together.
The collaboration would also come at a different stage in Kareena’s career, with the actor having worked across commercial cinema, dramas, comedies and more character-driven projects over the years.
Project Details Still Under Wraps
Despite reports surrounding the film, several important details remain unknown.
The makers have yet to officially announce the complete cast, storyline, filming schedule or release date. It is also unclear when production will begin and whether additional major actors will join Kareena in the project.
The reported involvement of Bhansali as producer and Kapadia as director has nevertheless generated interest because of the combination of established Bollywood talent and an unconventional director choice.
For now, the project remains a reported collaboration, with official confirmation from the production team awaited.
If the reports are confirmed, Kareena Kapoor’s association with Bhansali Productions could mark the beginning of a long-awaited professional collaboration that dates back to the early 2010s.
