John Cena recently opened up about some of his most uncomfortable moments on set during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. Reflecting on his experience filming a comedic sex scene with Amy Schumer in the 2015 movie Trainwreck, Cena shared how awkward it was to perform elaborate and intentionally clumsy stunts for the scene.

“Amy is an angel; she made the environment so comfortable,” Cena said, but he admitted that the experience was anything but intimate, with catering and the sound tent nearby. “There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing. So it’s real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you’re making fun of yourself? They were literally like, ‘Try to have the most awkward sex you possibly can.’”

However, Cena revealed that his most uncomfortable career moment wasn’t during Trainwreck but during his nearly nude appearance in a 2024 Oscars sketch. He described the experience of walking out almost naked in front of an audience full of decorated performers and industry professionals as even more embarrassing. “I walk out in front of a room of my peers…and I’m gonna go out there, with an index card covering me like, ‘Hey guys, is this funny? Are we good?’” Cena recalled.

These anecdotes highlight the challenges and awkwardness actors often face on set, particularly when comedic elements are involved.
