Speaking during a TV talk show, Sanaullah mentioned that if the new census is not notified by the Council of Common Interests (CCI) before its term ends, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will be obliged to hold elections using the previous census data for delimitation purposes.

The minister explained that the government has concerns and reservations about the latest census, which is why they have chosen not to notify it. He also acknowledged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), a coalition partner, has expressed dissatisfaction with both the new digital census and the 2017 census.

Sanaullah emphasized the need to address these concerns and avoid making hasty decisions, as rushing the census process could lead to controversies in the country.
