PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi has been granted permission to meet him at Adiala Jail on Tuesday, which has been designated as a meeting day for the former prime minister.
Noreen was initially stopped at a police checkpoint while travelling towards the prison but was later allowed to proceed after police arrangements were made.
Noreen escorted to Adiala Jail
According to the report, Noreen Niazi reached the Dahgal checkpoint along with her cousin, Qasim Zaman.
Police initially stopped the family members as they attempted to proceed towards Adiala Jail.
Noreen was subsequently granted permission to meet Imran Khan, following which police escorted her from Dahgal towards Gate 5 of Adiala Jail.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khanum and Dr Uzma Khan also reached the checkpoint and got out of their vehicle amid the restrictions.
Lawyers stopped at checkpoint
Imran Khan’s spokespersons and lawyers, Niaziullah Niazi and Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, also reached the Dahgal checkpoint but were stopped by police from proceeding towards Adiala Jail.
Several PTI leaders also faced restrictions while attempting to reach the prison.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Meena Khan and MNA Shahid Khattak reached the Factory checkpoint as part of efforts to proceed towards the jail.
Police also stopped the PTI leaders from moving further, while some PTI workers were present at the checkpoint.
Family and party members face restrictions
The situation resulted in restrictions on several members of Imran Khan’s family, legal team and party leadership.
While Noreen Niazi was eventually allowed to proceed for the meeting, other family members and PTI representatives remained at checkpoints as police controlled access towards Adiala Jail.
The developments come amid ongoing legal and administrative proceedings concerning Imran Khan, including the recent Supreme Court order regarding his proposed transfer to a private hospital.
