Imran Khan Believes 90% Of The Military Families Will Support PTI

ISLAMABAD – Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan who has been incarcerated since August of the previous year, remains resolute in his ambitions for a political comeback, even as his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), grapples with tensions in the current political landscape. Speaking to journalists during Toshakhana proceedings at Adiala Jail, Khan expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with other political leaders, emphasizing that a politician should be open to discussions. However, he asserted that PTI would prefer joining the opposition rather than forming a weak alliance.

Imran Khan acknowledged the challenges his previous government faced due to PTI’s slim majority in parliament. Despite being in jail, the 71-year-old leader exuded confidence in PTI’s prospects, predicting a sweeping victory in the upcoming elections. Khan claimed that 90 percent of army personnel would vote for his party, emphasizing the connection between PTI and the armed forces.

During his interaction, Khan pointed to external forces, referred to as Khalai Makhloo, alleging their interference in Pakistani politics and suggesting they were behind the legal cases against him. He portrayed PTI as a fresh victim of rigging and expressed regret that his party had taken the helm after the 2018 polls, suggesting that sitting in opposition might have been a more strategic move.

Imran Khan asserted a strong connection between PTI and the Pakistan Army, stating, “Pakistan Army is our army, and 90 percent of them will vote for me.” He referred to former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Bajwa’s comments on PTI’s popularity within the armed forces, reinforcing the alignment between the party and the military.
