Imad Wasim Makes History in T20 Cricket During BBL Match
Former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has etched his name in history by achieving the milestone of scoring 1000 runs and capturing fifty wickets in T20 cricket within a single calendar year.
Imad now joins an elite group, becoming the fourth cricketer to attain this rare feat. Prior to him, only Kieron Pollard achieved it in 2010, Azhar Mahmood in 2012, and Andre Russell in 2016.
In his debut match for the Melbourne Stars in the thirteenth season of the Big Bash League (BBL), the 35-year-old contributed to his team’s first victory of the season, scoring 14 runs from 10 balls.
Despite recently announcing his retirement from international cricket, Imad Wasim’s decision has surprised many, considering his exceptional physical condition and recent stellar performances. He played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s last T20I series against New Zealand, delivering outstanding performances.
During Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8, Imad emerged as one of the standout players. The left-handed batsman showcased his skills by amassing an impressive 404 runs in just 10 innings, boasting an exceptional average of 134.66 and a striking rate of 170.46. Additionally, he exhibited his versatility by claiming nine wickets with the ball.
It is noteworthy that Imad Wasim was part of one of the most significant trades in PSL history before the ninth season, making the move to Islamabad United, while Hasan Ali transitioned to Karachi Kings.
