Haval Unveils Toyota Land Cruiser Competitor.

Share

“Haval has recently released official images of its upcoming large SUV, the H5, which is set to directly rival popular full-size SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, GAC GS 8, and GWM Tank 500.

Originally introduced as a compact SUV built on Great Wall Motors’ (GWM) pickup platform, the Haval H5 has now undergone a rebranding as the company’s first-ever large SUV.

The H5 will offer two engine options: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine generating 163 horsepower, or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine capable of producing up to 221 horsepower.

CarNewsChina suggests that the H5 SUV will feature a four-wheel drive (4WD) drivetrain, and there are also speculations about the possibility of a hybrid variant using GWM’s Hi4 Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system.

In terms of design, the H5 draws inspiration from American SUVs, boasting a prominent trapezoidal grille with two horizontal chrome-plated trim sections, exuding a commanding presence. The raised ridges on the engine cover and roof further enhance its rugged aesthetics.

With its blackened D-pillar, elegant multi-spoke alloy wheels, high-mounted brake lights, and vertically connected taillight pair, the Haval H5 presents a stylish side profile and distinctive rear end.”

A three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, a full LCD instrument cluster, and a floating central control display were all visible in the interior photo.

The new SUV will be available in H2 2023 at a price range of Rs. 4.6 million to Rs. 5.7 million. The features list is currently unknown, but the price hints that the H5 will not be a high-end product at first. It may later receive more luxury variations.
