Goods Transporters across Pakistan have announced a 5% reduction in freight rates following recent cuts in petrol and diesel prices. The decision aims to pass some of the fuel cost relief to customers.
The All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance confirmed the reduction in transportation charges. Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan said the decision followed declining petroleum prices over the past four to five days.
He explained that transporters had agreed to reduce freight charges in response to the recent fuel price relief. The move is expected to provide some financial relief to businesses relying on goods transportation.
The alliance also welcomed the government’s decision to reduce petroleum prices. However, it urged authorities to announce further cuts to support the transport sector.
Goods Transporters Announce 5% Reduction in Freight Rates
Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan said the 5% reduction reflected recent changes in fuel prices. He stated that transporters had decided to adjust their charges accordingly.
The announcement came after the government reduced petrol and diesel prices. Fuel expenses are a major operating cost for the transportation industry.
The alliance thanked the prime minister and federal petroleum minister for providing fuel price relief. However, Awan said additional reductions were necessary to ease pressure on transport businesses.
The 5% adjustment is expected to reduce transportation costs for businesses and traders. However, the actual savings will depend on individual freight charges and transportation arrangements.
Petrol Price Falls by Rs. 9.41 Per Liter
The freight rate reduction follows a significant decrease in petrol prices. The government has reduced the petrol price by Rs. 9.41 per liter.
Following this adjustment, petrol is now priced at Rs. 352.59 per liter. The reduction has provided some relief to vehicle owners and transportation businesses.
The lower petrol price was among the factors considered by the transport alliance. Goods Transporters linked their decision directly to the recent decline in petroleum costs.
Diesel Price Also Reduced by Rs. 5.56
Diesel prices have also decreased following the government’s latest adjustment. The rate has fallen by Rs. 5.56 per liter.
After the reduction, diesel is now available at Rs. 382.25 per liter. The change is particularly relevant to the goods transportation industry.
Heavy vehicles used for transporting commercial goods mainly depend on diesel. Therefore, changes in diesel prices directly affect transportation operating expenses.
The alliance has welcomed both fuel price reductions. However, it believes further cuts could provide greater relief to transport operators.
Transport Alliance Seeks Further Fuel Price Relief
Despite announcing lower freight rates, the alliance has urged the government to reduce petroleum prices further. It believes additional relief could help control transportation costs.
The recent 5% reduction reflects the industry’s response to lower fuel expenses. It also highlights the connection between petroleum prices and freight charges.
