Market Remains Sensitive to Global Prices
Precious-metal prices in Pakistan remain sensitive to movements in international bullion markets as well as currency exchange rates.
Gold is widely purchased in Pakistan for jewellery, savings and investment, meaning changes in the per-tola price can have a direct impact on consumers.
A Rs3,100 decline in the price of one tola represents a notable daily movement for buyers and sellers, particularly during periods of heightened volatility in global markets.
Silver prices have also remained subject to international market movements, with the local price falling by Rs100 per tola on Wednesday.
What the Latest Rates Mean for Buyers
Consumers planning to purchase gold jewellery should keep in mind that the published bullion rate is generally the base market price for the metal. The final price of jewellery can be higher because of additional charges, including making charges and other applicable costs.
Similarly, market rates can change during periods of significant movement in international bullion prices or exchange rates.
The latest figures therefore provide a snapshot of the local bullion market for October 7 rather than a fixed price for future transactions.
For now, both gold and silver have moved lower in Pakistan, following declines in international precious-metal prices.
