“Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Takes Charge: High-Level Meeting Focuses on PIA Restructuring and Aviation Enhancements”

The Aviation Division team presented a comprehensive overview of the operational and financial challenges faced by PIA, highlighting potential solutions.

The participants explored various restructuring options to enhance PIA’s performance and align it with international standards. Minister Dar instructed the concerned authorities to develop a detailed roadmap for the next meeting.

In attendance were Federal Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Aviation, Air Vice Marshal M. Amir Hayat, and senior officers from Finance and Aviation.

Additionally, Minister Dar chaired a separate meeting focusing on the Civil Aviation Division and Airport Security Force, where he was briefed on issues related to regulations, service provision, and security functions.

The discussions encompassed legal solutions, necessary amendments to aviation laws/ordinances, and capacity enhancement in line with international aviation standards.

The finance minister emphasized the timely introduction of legislation to facilitate the resumption of PIA flights to the US, UK, and Europe.
