Driving License Process Gets New Update in Pakistan

The Punjab government has introduced another facility to make obtaining a driving license more convenient for citizens. People can now apply for a learner driving license at 15 e-service centers established by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), reducing the need to visit traditional licensing offices.

Under the new system, applicants can visit any participating e-service center, submit the required documents, complete the verification process, and receive their learner driving license on the same day. Officials said the learner license issued through these centers will remain valid for six months.

The e-service centers are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, allowing applicants to access the facility during regular working hours. Citizens applying for a learner driving license must bring their original identity documents and pay the prescribed government fee. Authorities have also advised applicants to contact the official e-service website or call the helpline 1317 for additional information and assistance.

In addition to the learner license facility, the Punjab government has simplified the process for renewing an existing driving license. Citizens can now complete the renewal process from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones, eliminating the need for repeated visits to licensing centers.

Following the integration of driving license services into the Dastak app, the entire renewal process has become digital. Applicants can enter their personal information, upload the required documents, pay the applicable fee online, and submit their application without visiting any government office.

The new system also allows users to monitor the progress of their driving license application and track the delivery status online.

According to the authorities, these initiatives are intended to improve public services by reducing long queues, saving citizens valuable time, and making driving license services faster, more transparent, and easily accessible across Punjab. The government believes that expanding digital services will enhance convenience while improving the overall efficiency of the licensing system.
