Construction Begins on Pakistan's Tallest Building in Karachi

Construction of what is being described as Pakistan’s tallest building has officially started in Karachi, with the foundation stone laid for the ambitious Burj Quaid project in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). The landmark development is expected to redefine the city’s skyline and become one of the country’s most significant real estate projects.

According to project officials, Burj Quaid will consist of two 82-storey towers built across six acres within the DHA Golf Club in Karachi. Once completed, the twin towers are expected to surpass all existing high-rise buildings in Pakistan, making them the tallest structures in the country.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the Administrator of DHA Karachi, the Administrator of DHA City, along with leading builders, developers and representatives from the real estate sector. The event marked the official launch of a project that developers say will set new standards for modern urban development in Pakistan.

Officials confirmed that all required approvals for the high-rise construction have already been obtained from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), allowing work on the project to move forward without regulatory hurdles. The approvals were considered essential due to the exceptional height of the proposed towers.

Speaking at the ceremony, DHA City Administrator Brigadier Kashif Naeem described Burj Quaid as a landmark development that would strengthen Pakistan’s economy while showcasing modern architectural design. He said the project is expected to become a major attraction and encourage further commercial and residential investment in DHA.

Brigadier Naeem also invited both local and overseas investors to explore opportunities in DHA City, highlighting its secure environment and growing infrastructure. He noted that the project is expected to generate thousands of employment opportunities during both the construction phase and after completion, supporting economic activity in Karachi.

Officials further revealed that several major healthcare developments are also underway in DHA City, including the construction of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and a Dow Hospital. These projects are expected to enhance healthcare facilities while supporting the area’s long-term development.

ABS Developers Chief Executive Officer Dr. Subiel Akram said Burj Quaid reflects the company’s commitment to contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth through large-scale real estate investments. He added that the company has successfully completed previous projects ahead of schedule and currently serves more than 20,000 members. According to him, the new development aims to connect Pakistan with international standards of urban living and modern infrastructure.
