Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has ruled out changes to the party’s organisational structure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the current arrangements would remain unchanged until provincial president Junaid Akbar returns.
Speaking to reporters at Parliament House in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar confirmed that Junaid Akbar would continue serving as PTI’s provincial president. He added that the party’s organisational decisions were being made according to the directions of founder Imran Khan.
The PTI chairman also explained how party affairs would be managed during Junaid Akbar’s absence. Senior vice-president Noorul Haq Qadri would chair meetings under the party’s constitution.
Meanwhile, General Secretary Ali Asghar Khan would oversee other organisational matters. Barrister Gohar said an official notification explaining these arrangements was expected that day or the following day.
Sohail Afridi to Continue as KP Chief Minister
Barrister Gohar also reaffirmed PTI’s support for Sohail Afridi as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister. He said Afridi would continue holding the position.
The PTI chairman stressed that decisions concerning the province would require Imran Khan’s approval. He maintained that the party’s leadership would follow the founder’s directions on important political and organisational matters.
Barrister Gohar also clarified that Junaid Akbar’s appointment as provincial president had been made on Imran Khan’s instructions. The appointment notification reflected the party founder’s directions, he said.
His remarks came amid discussions about PTI’s organisational arrangements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The chairman indicated that no immediate changes were planned while the provincial president remained absent.
Barrister Gohar Urges Media to Verify Information
Commenting on internal party matters, Barrister Gohar urged the media to verify information before publishing reports. He cautioned against drawing conclusions from statements without checking their context.
He also addressed a recent tweet by PTI’s secretary general. According to the chairman, the tweet had been taken out of context.
His comments highlighted the importance of accurate reporting when covering internal party developments. He called for care in interpreting statements related to PTI’s leadership and organisational decisions.
PTI Chairman Praises Party Lawmakers
Barrister Gohar expressed confidence in PTI’s elected representatives at both national and provincial levels. He particularly praised lawmakers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their role over the past two years.
He said party members had actively participated in rallies, public gatherings, and marches. He also maintained that PTI lawmakers had consistently supported Imran Khan during this period.
The chairman described the party’s provincial assembly members as a source of pride for PTI’s founder. He said their commitment had remained strong and expressed confidence in their continued support.
