Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced new employment opportunities for candidates at its main campus in Islamabad and regional centres across Pakistan. The vacancies are available in different pay scales, ranging from BPS-02 to BPS-20.
The recruitment drive includes positions for teaching and administrative support, research, data entry, regional services, drivers and office staff. Candidates from different educational backgrounds can apply, with some positions requiring postgraduate qualifications and others open to literate candidates.
At the AIOU main campus in Islamabad, the university has announced one post of Assistant Director Regional Services in BPS-17. Candidates must hold a second-class Master’s degree or equivalent from a HEC-recognised university. Relevant professional experience will be preferred.
Four Research Assistant positions in BPS-16 are also available. Applicants must have 16 years of education or a first- or second-class graduate degree from a HEC-recognised university. Relevant experience will be preferred.
The main campus vacancies also include one Data Entry Operator in BPS-14. Candidates need at least a second-class bachelor’s degree, a minimum typing speed of 10,000 key depressions per hour and knowledge of computer applications.
AIOU has also announced vacancies for a Staff Car Driver to the Vice Chancellor in BPS-11, one Driver in BPS-08, two Drivers in BPS-05 and eight Naib Qasid positions in BPS-02.
The regional centres have several senior positions available. These include one Regional Director in BPS-20, two Additional Regional Directors in BPS-19, two Deputy Regional Directors in BPS-18 and four Assistant Regional Directors in BPS-17.
The university has also announced seven Assistant positions in BPS-15, eight Driver positions in BPS-05, nine Naib Qasid positions in BPS-02 and four Mali positions in BPS-02. These vacancies are distributed among Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan according to the announced quotas.
The required qualifications vary by position. Senior posts generally require Master’s degrees and relevant professional or administrative experience. Assistant positions require a second-class bachelor’s degree and typing skills, while driver posts require valid HTV or PSV driving licences and relevant driving experience.
Candidates applying for the jobs must submit their applications online through the AIOU job portal. Hard-copy applications will not be accepted. Applicants working in government, semi-government or autonomous organisations must apply through the proper channel and provide the required NOC.
AIOU has also announced different processing fees according to the pay scale. The fee is Rs. 2,000 for BPS-20, Rs. 1,500 for BPS-17 to BPS-19, Rs. 1,000 for BPS-16, Rs. 500 for BPS-11 to BPS-15, while no fee is required for BPS-01 to BPS-08 positions.
The last date to submit applications is October 10, 2026. Candidates are advised to review the eligibility requirements, age limits, provincial quotas and application instructions before submitting their forms.
