Aima Baig, Trishala Gurung Set For Asia Cup Opening Ceremony

Talented vocalists Aima Baig and Trishala Gurung are set to grace the opening ceremony of the 2023 Asia Cup in Multan on Wednesday. This spectacle will precede the inaugural match of the tournament, featuring Pakistan and Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Scheduled from August 30 to September 17, the Asia Cup 2023 is co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, due to security concerns, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chose not to send their team to Pakistan, leading to the division of match locations.

Pakistan is positioned in Group A alongside Nepal and India, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. The hosting plan includes four matches in Pakistan, while the remaining nine, including the final, will unfold in Sri Lanka.

Distinguishing this year’s Asia Cup is its adoption of the 50-over format, aimed at aiding teams in their preparation for the subsequent World Cup in India. The last instance of the 50-over Asia Cup took place in 2018, with India holding the title as defending champions from that edition.
