4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles New York, New Jersey

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck New Jersey, causing tremors felt in neighboring states and New York City on Friday morning. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred around 10:23 am, approximately 5 miles north of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Despite its proximity, the epicenter was about 45 miles away from New York City. Residents in the city reported feeling the shaking, with furniture and floors affected.
