Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq has shared a cryptic message on social media. The post came after his omission from Pakistan’s upcoming squads.
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced squads for two major upcoming assignments. These include a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan will also take part in an ODI tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka. Despite his recent performances, Usman Tariq was not selected for either squad.
The spinner later posted a message on his Instagram Story. His message appeared shortly after the squad announcements.
He wrote, “The hardest test of wisdom is to remain silent when the ego demands that you speak.”
The post quickly drew attention because of its timing. However, Usman did not directly mention the Pakistan Cricket Board or the selectors.
Usman had delivered a strong performance during the 2026 T20 World Cup. He became Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker during the tournament.
The 29-year-old spinner played six matches for Pakistan in the competition. He finished the tournament with 10 wickets.
His performance made him Pakistan’s most successful bowler at the event. His exclusion from the upcoming squads therefore attracted attention among cricket followers.
Despite his World Cup contribution, Usman was not selected for the T20I series. He was also left out of the ODI tri-series squad.
Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series. The opening match is scheduled for October 9 in Rawalpindi.
The series will provide Pakistan with an opportunity to assess its bowling options. The team will also continue preparing for upcoming international commitments.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has made a leadership change in its T20I setup. Salman Ali Agha has been removed as the team’s T20I captain.
Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as his replacement. The change comes ahead of Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The upcoming matches will therefore feature a new captain and squad combination. The selection decisions have also created discussion around several players.
Usman Tariq’s social media post has added further attention to his omission. However, he has not publicly explained the reason behind the message.
His recent World Cup record remains one of the key points surrounding his exclusion. He was Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker despite playing only six matches.
For now, Pakistan will move forward with its selected players. The team’s T20I series against Sri Lanka begins on October 9.
