The United States and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to jointly combat terrorist organizations that threaten regional peace and the security of both countries, including ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K), al-Qa’ida (AQ), Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
The commitment was made during the Fourth US-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue held in Washington, DC. The meeting was led by US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Gregory LoGerfo and Pakistan’s Special Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nabeel Munir, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
During the dialogue, both sides reaffirmed the importance of the longstanding US-Pakistan counterterrorism partnership and highlighted their shared determination to confront terrorism in all its forms.
The delegations exchanged views on the current regional and global security environment, discussing evolving terrorist threats and exploring ways to deepen cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.
Officials also reviewed measures to strengthen border security, improve intelligence coordination, and disrupt terrorist facilitation and financing networks operating in the region.
According to the joint statement, both governments pledged to continue working together to ensure their counterterrorism cooperation contributes to the safety and security of their citizens.
The statement added that the partnership reflects a broader shared vision of promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity, while strengthening cooperation to address common security challenges.
The dialogue forms part of ongoing bilateral engagement between Pakistan and the United States aimed at enhancing security cooperation and addressing emerging terrorist threats across the region.
