Three people, including two children, lost their lives after the roof of a house collapsed in Lahore’s Garhi Shahu Railway Colony during heavy rainfall. Another child was injured in the incident and shifted to hospital for treatment.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the collapsed roof was constructed with mud and T-iron girders. Rescue teams launched an operation immediately after receiving the emergency call and successfully recovered all four people trapped beneath the debris.
The victims were identified as 45-year-old Mubeen, his 40-year-old wife and their 11-year-old daughter, Fatima. Rescue officials confirmed that all three died as a result of the roof collapse.
A 14-year-old child, Aimal, sustained injuries in the incident and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Rescue authorities said the operation was completed after clearing the debris and confirmed that no additional victims were trapped.
The tragedy occurred as Lahore experienced heavy rainfall with the arrival of the third spell of the monsoon season. Rain began early in the morning and affected several parts of the city, bringing cooler weather but also creating difficulties for residents.
Showers were reported in the old city areas, including Lakshmi Chowk, Delhi Gate and the vicinity of the railway station. Major roads such as Mall Road, Jail Road and Gulberg also received moderate to heavy rainfall.
The downpour led to water accumulation in several low-lying areas, disrupting traffic and causing inconvenience to commuters. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that intermittent monsoon rains are expected to continue over the coming days and has advised citizens to take necessary safety precautions.
The rainfall also triggered power outages in different parts of Lahore after multiple electricity feeders tripped. Authorities are monitoring the situation as the city continues to experience monsoon-related disruptions.
