The number of 3G/4G users in Pakistan reached nearly 135 million by the end of June

According to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan rose from 192.32 million at the end of May 2024 to 192.53 million by the end of June 2024. The data also indicated an increase in 3G and 4G users, growing from 133.26 million in May to 134.87 million in June.

Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration went up from 55.07 percent in May to 55.61 percent in June, while the cellular teledensity, which measures the number of connections per hundred individuals, remained stable at 79 percent.

Breaking down the numbers by provider, Jazz saw a decrease in 3G users from 3.145 million in May to 3.041 million in June, but its 4G users increased from 46.547 million to 47.295 million during the same period. Zong’s 3G subscribers declined from 2.026 million to 1.983 million, while its 4G users grew from 36.220 million to 36.665 million. Telenor experienced a drop in 3G subscribers from 1.700 million to 1.588 million, with a rise in 4G users from 24.419 million to 24.680 million. Ufone’s 3G users slightly decreased from 2.278 million to 2.238 million, whereas its 4G user base expanded from 15.306 million to 15.652 million.
