A 15-year-old boy has died in the Rangpur area of Muzaffargarh following an alleged sexual assault, according to police. Authorities have arrested the alleged suspect and launched an investigation into the incident.
Police said the teenager was allegedly assaulted at gunpoint on August 22. A case was registered on August 28 after the incident was reported. The suspect was later arrested as investigators began looking into the circumstances surrounding the assault and the teenager’s death.
Police officials said the boy was also suffering from a kidney-related illness. A post-mortem examination is being conducted to determine the cause of death and establish whether the alleged assault or any other factor contributed to his death.
The District Police Officer Muzaffargarh confirmed that the suspect had been arrested. Officials said further investigation was underway and that evidence was being collected to determine the facts of the case.
The incident has drawn attention to concerns over violence and sexual abuse involving children. Authorities are expected to establish the complete circumstances through the investigation and medical examination.
The case comes months after another tragic incident involving a young shepherd in the Cholistan desert. The boy was allegedly attacked by a group of 12 men and later died while receiving treatment at Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
According to investigators in that case, the young shepherd had been grazing more than 40 sheep when he went missing on July 1. His family later found him on July 9 in a severely injured and distressed condition.
Investigators said the victim told his family that he had allegedly been drugged and sexually assaulted repeatedly over several days. He also reportedly said that his flock had been taken from him. The victim was subsequently taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for treatment.
He later died while undergoing treatment for his injuries. Police launched an investigation into the incident and continued efforts to arrest those allegedly involved.
The two cases have renewed concerns about the protection of children and vulnerable people from sexual violence. In the Muzaffargarh case, however, the exact cause of the teenager’s death has not yet been established. The ongoing post-mortem examination and police investigation are expected to provide further information.
Authorities have arrested a suspect in the latest case, while investigators continue to examine the evidence. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation and medical examination.
