Households in Sindh and Balochistan will face restricted natural gas supplies under a new winter schedule introduced by Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). Starting November 4, 2026, domestic consumers will receive gas for only eight hours daily in three separate time slots.
The revised schedule comes as Pakistan faces increasing pressure on its energy supplies amid disruptions in global fuel markets and the ongoing Iran conflict. The situation has added to concerns about the country’s ability to meet domestic gas demand, particularly during the winter season when household consumption usually increases.
Under the new arrangement, SSGC will prioritise gas availability during breakfast, lunch and dinner hours. Consumers will have scheduled gas supply during these periods, while supply will remain unavailable under the announced timetable for the remaining 16 hours.
New SSGC Winter Gas Supply Timings
SSGC has divided the daily gas supply into three separate periods to help households prepare their meals.
The revised schedule is as follows:
| Meal | Gas Supply Timings | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Breakfast | 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM | 2.5 hours |
| Lunch | 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM | 2.5 hours |
| Dinner | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM | 3 hours |
| Total | Three time slots | 8 hours |
According to the announced schedule, consumers will receive gas during these specific hours. The arrangement is intended to provide households with gas when it is most needed for daily cooking.
The company has communicated the revised timings through its official website and social media platforms. The schedule applies to domestic consumers in Sindh and Balochistan.
Karachi Residents Already Facing Gas Shortages
The announcement follows complaints from residents in Karachi, where several neighbourhoods experienced major gas supply disruptions on Tuesday.
Consumers reported that gas was either completely unavailable or being supplied at extremely low pressure. The situation created difficulties for families trying to prepare meals and carry out routine household activities.
Many households have already been dealing with unreliable gas supplies, particularly during periods of higher demand. The introduction of fixed supply hours could make daily cooking arrangements more challenging for families that depend entirely on natural gas.
Iran Conflict Adds Pressure on Pakistan’s Energy Supplies
Pakistan’s gas shortage is also developing amid uncertainty in international energy markets.
The ongoing Iran conflict has disrupted energy trade routes and increased concerns about the movement of fuel supplies across the Gulf region. These developments are particularly important for Pakistan because the country relies on imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) to supplement its declining domestic gas production.
Any disruption to international LNG shipments could create additional pressure on Pakistan’s energy supply system.
During winter, household gas consumption generally increases as temperatures fall and demand for cooking and heating rises. This seasonal increase can make existing supply shortages more difficult to manage.
What Consumers Should Know
Under the revised SSGC schedule, domestic consumers in Sindh and Balochistan should plan their cooking activities around the three announced supply windows.
Gas will be available from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM for breakfast, 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM for lunch and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for dinner.
The total scheduled availability will be eight hours per day. Households will need to adjust their daily routines accordingly as Pakistan enters another challenging winter season.
