Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken cinemas by storm, delivering one of the biggest box office openings of 2026 and exceeding industry expectations before its first full weekend.
Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Sadie Sink, the latest Marvel blockbuster earned an impressive $72 million from Wednesday screenings and Thursday previews alone, according to Sony Pictures. The figure sets a new preview record, surpassing the $60 million previously held by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Industry analysts project the film could earn between $167 million and $173 million on Friday, with its domestic opening weekend expected to reach at least $330 million across 4,487 North American theaters.
If momentum continues, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could challenge the all-time domestic opening weekend record of $357.1 million, currently held by Avengers: Endgame.
The film marks Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker in his first standalone Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Picking up after Doctor Strange erased the world’s memory of Peter Parker, the story follows Spider-Man as he struggles to reconnect with MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) while dealing with mysterious new challenges.
Sadie Sink joins the franchise in a major new role, adding fresh excitement to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The previous installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, opened with $260.1 million domestically and went on to gross more than $1.9 billion worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing superhero films in history.
With record-breaking previews, massive audience turnout, and strong word-of-mouth, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already on track to become one of the biggest films of 2026.
