The Lahore Traffic Police has unveiled a comprehensive traffic management plan for the 983rd annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA), introducing special arrangements to manage traffic during the three-day religious gathering.
SSP City Zone Maqsood Loon will oversee the traffic operation, with five DSPs, 111 traffic inspectors, and 900 traffic wardens deployed across the city. Authorities have also arranged 15 forklifts and four breakdown vehicles to remove illegally parked vehicles and maintain smooth traffic flow.
To facilitate visitors, the Traffic Police has established five designated parking areas. Milk supply vehicles, handcarts, and rickshaws carrying supplies to Sabeels will be permitted to access the area through Azadi Flyover and Peer Makki.
Several roads surrounding Data Darbar will remain closed to all traffic for security reasons, including Kachehri Chowk, Bhati Chowk, and the route from Peer Makki to Data Darbar.
The traffic advisory also includes multiple diversion plans. Vehicles traveling from Shahdara to Lower Mall will be redirected through Azadi Chowk towards Railway Station or via Niazi Shaheed Chowk, Bund Road, and Saggian. Traffic from Chauburji Chowk heading to Lower Mall and Data Sahib will also be diverted through alternate routes.
Motorists approaching from the Inner Circular Road can access their destinations through Mori Gate, Urdu Bazaar, and Kachehri Road. Meanwhile, entry to Lower Mall will remain closed from District Courts Chowk, the DIG Operations Office corner, and the Government College University R/O Gate.
Traffic from Retigan Chowk, Bilal Ganj Chowk, Beri Wala Chowk, Mori Gate, Taxali Chowk, and Azadi Chowk will not be allowed to proceed towards Data Darbar or Lower Mall.
The Lahore Traffic Police has advised commuters traveling from Shahdara to Upper Mall to use the Railway Station and Press Club route instead.
Authorities encouraged citizens to stay updated through Rasta FM and the Rasta App, while assistance is also available via the Punjab Police Helpline 15 throughout the Urs celebrations.
