Soldiers Thwart Terror Attack; Two Martyred In KP

In Rawalpindi, the military’s media wing reported that two separate attacks by terrorists on security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resulted in the martyrdom of at least two soldiers. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first incident was an intelligence-based operation conducted in the Tirah area of Khyber district.

During this operation, a militant was neutralized, and two insurgents were injured and captured by security forces after an intense exchange of fire. Weapons and ammunition were also seized from these terrorists, who had been involved in conducting terror activities against security forces and targeting residents.

In the second incident, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in the Sarwekai area of South Waziristan District, leading to the martyrdom of two courageous soldiers, Sepoy Banaras Khan and Sepoy Abdul Karim. Pakistani forces continued their sanitization operation in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists and expressed their determination to eradicate the terrorism threat.

In recent times, Pakistan, with a population of over 240 million, has experienced a significant surge in militant violence, particularly in its northwestern and southwestern regions bordering Afghanistan, following increased activities by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Last month alone, more than 60 people lost their lives in twin suicide bombings that targeted a mosque and a religious procession. As a response to this threat, the Pakistani government has been taking measures to address the issue, including the removal of illegal immigrants who have aided militants.
