Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has warned of a sit-in outside the Supreme Court if he is not allowed to meet PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Afridi demanded permission to meet the former prime minister. He appeared alongside PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Babar Awan.
Afridi said he was willing to provide an assurance that he would not hold a press conference after meeting Imran Khan.
The KP chief minister also expressed concern about Imran Khan’s health. He called for proper medical treatment and said the former prime minister’s wellbeing should not be ignored.
“We want to be allowed to meet the PTI founder,” Afridi said while demanding access to Imran Khan.
He questioned what message would be given to young people if a former prime minister was treated unjustly. According to Afridi, many young Pakistanis are concerned about their future.
The KP chief minister also referred to a September 27 call, saying Pakistan’s youth would come out of their homes on that date.
He said preparations would be carried out across all provinces ahead of the September 27 call. The statement indicates that PTI supporters could organize activities across the country.
Afridi warned that a protest and sit-in would be staged outside the Supreme Court if permission to meet Imran Khan was denied.
He said the party did not want any harm to come to the PTI founder. Afridi stressed that no one should have the courage to cause any harm to Imran Khan.
The remarks come amid continued political tensions surrounding the PTI founder and his legal and political situation.
Afridi’s warning could increase pressure on authorities over access to Imran Khan. The proposed protest outside the Supreme Court could also attract significant political attention.
The KP government and PTI leadership are expected to continue seeking permission for meetings with Imran Khan. Further developments will determine whether the threatened protest takes place.
