The Sindh Home Department has announced that the ban on issuing arms licenses at Deputy Commissioners’ offices across the province will be lifted starting August 1, 2024. This decision follows approval from the Minister for Home, Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Criminal Prosecution Sindh. The issuance will proceed according to the existing quota set out in Rule 4.1 of the Sindh Arms Rule 2018.

The ban, initially imposed by the caretaker government led by Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar in October 2023, restricted arms licenses from being issued both by district commissioner offices and the interior ministry. The new notification was issued by Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Iqbal Memon.
