The Sindh government is contacting more than 100 companies to expand internship and employment opportunities for students and graduates. The initiative aims to help young people find suitable jobs, gain practical experience and develop skills that meet the needs of employers.
Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the update while discussing the progress of the government’s I Work for Sindh platform. He said the initiative connects job seekers with employers and supports young people in finding opportunities based on their qualifications and skills.
The platform has recorded more than 5.19 million visits so far. According to the figures shared by Memon, 136,547 candidates have registered, while 721 companies are participating in the initiative.
More Than 31,000 Job Opportunities Listed
The I Work for Sindh platform has advertised a total of 31,270 job opportunities. Of these, 24,766 positions remain active, giving registered candidates access to a range of available vacancies.
Candidates have submitted 473,339 applications through the platform so far. These figures show the level of activity on the portal, although applications and advertised vacancies do not necessarily represent confirmed job placements.
The government is seeking to bring more companies onto the platform to increase the number of opportunities available to students, fresh graduates and other job seekers.
By connecting employers and candidates through a single system, the initiative aims to make job searching more accessible and help companies reach people with relevant qualifications.
Internationally Recognised Training Courses Available
Alongside employment opportunities, the Sindh government is focusing on professional development and skills training.
The platform provides access to more than 1,800 internationally recognised short training courses. These courses are intended to help candidates improve their professional skills and prepare for changing workplace requirements.
According to the figures shared by Memon, 4,620 candidates have completed courses, while another 5,789 people are currently receiving training in different programmes.
The training initiative could help young people strengthen their applications and improve their readiness for jobs in different sectors. However, completing a course does not guarantee employment, as recruitment also depends on employers’ requirements and candidates’ qualifications.
Automatic Job Listings and Daily Alerts Planned
The Sindh government is also developing a system that will automatically add vacancies from public- and private-sector organisations to the I Work for Sindh platform.
Initial preparations and implementation are planned over the next one-and-a-half to two months, according to the announcement.
The proposed system is expected to make it easier for candidates to find newly advertised positions without relying on separate searches across multiple organisations.
A daily job alert service is also being planned. It would notify candidates about newly available vacancies and help them stay informed about employment opportunities.
What This Means for Students and Graduates
The expansion plan could provide students and graduates with more ways to explore internships, entry-level jobs and professional training. Bringing additional companies onto the platform may also increase the range of sectors and roles available to applicants.
Job seekers should keep their profiles updated, prepare their CVs and check the eligibility requirements for each vacancy before applying.
The government has not confirmed how many additional jobs or internships will result from its outreach to more than 100 companies. The impact of the initiative will depend on employer participation, the number of vacancies listed and the recruitment process followed by participating organisations.
