Rs6.5 Million Robbed From Edhi Centre in Karachi

A robbery case has been registered after more than Rs6.5 million was allegedly stolen from an Edhi Centre in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area. The incident took place on Friday afternoon and has triggered a police investigation.

According to the complaint filed by Edhi employee Mazhar Abbas, four armed suspects arrived on two motorcycles. The suspects allegedly followed Edhi employees after they withdrew the cash from a private bank.

The robbers reportedly reached the Edhi Centre at around 4pm. Three suspects allegedly entered the premises while the fourth remained outside. The suspects then allegedly took the cash and escaped from the scene.

The Edhi Home administration said the money had been withdrawn from a private bank for distributing employees’ salaries. The stolen amount was reportedly more than Rs6.5 million.

Police officials reached the location after receiving information about the incident. Investigators are now collecting evidence and recording statements from people who witnessed the robbery.

Police are also obtaining CCTV footage from the centre and surrounding areas. The footage is expected to help investigators identify the suspects and trace their movements before and after the robbery.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of cash being transported to welfare centres. Authorities are investigating how the suspects allegedly tracked the employees from the bank to the Edhi Centre.

Sindh Chief Minister has also taken notice of the robbery and sought a report from the Inspector General of Police. He directed authorities to trace and arrest the suspects involved in the incident.

Police officials said efforts are underway to identify the armed men. Further investigation will determine how the suspects planned the robbery and whether they had prior information about the cash movement.

The case remains under investigation as police continue efforts to recover the stolen money and arrest those responsible.
