Riphah International University and the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Pakistan-China cooperation in medical education, research, clinical training and professional development.
The MoU was signed on September 30, 2026, by Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Riphah International University, and Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, President, CPMA.
Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate on medical research, clinical training, academic exchanges, and student and faculty development.
As part of the partnership, the CPMA Pakistan Chapter will be established at Riphah International University, with Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan appointed as its Head and General Secretary of CPMA.
The initiative aims to provide Pakistani students, researchers and healthcare professionals with greater opportunities for knowledge-sharing, research collaboration and clinical exposure through academic and professional links with China.
The signing ceremony coincided with the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, and the 5th anniversary of CPMA.
The collaboration builds on institutional links developed during the recent official visit of Riphah International University Chancellor Hassan Muhammad Khan to China.
Medical specialists, dignitaries, faculty members and students attended the ceremony.

Through this partnership, Riphah International University and CPMA shall strengthen bilateral cooperation in medical education, research and healthcare capacity-building.
