Rao Abdul Karim has reaffirmed his commitment to improving medical care for special children of Punjab Police employees. The department has released more than Rs889 million in welfare funds during the current year.
According to official details, Punjab Police has continued its support program for children suffering from serious health conditions. The initiative focuses on financial help and better treatment facilities through hospitals.
Under this program, 721 children suffering from cerebral palsy are receiving a monthly allowance of Rs20,000 each. The total amount disbursed for this category has crossed Rs642 million.
In another major support step, 171 children affected by thalassemia are being given Rs30,000 per month. The total assistance for this group has reached over Rs153 million.
Punjab Police has also allocated more than Rs62 million for the treatment of 38 children facing various critical illnesses. These include complex medical conditions requiring long-term care.
In addition, six children undergoing cancer treatment and bone marrow transplants have received Rs10.6 million in financial support. This assistance is aimed at covering expensive medical procedures.
Five children suffering from heart and kidney diseases were also provided Rs11.9 million for treatment. Meanwhile, 13 children with hearing impairment received Rs872,000 for medical support and related needs.
A spokesperson for Punjab Police stated that welfare measures for employees’ families are continuing without interruption. The department is working to ensure timely financial assistance for all registered cases.
The Inspector General of Punjab Police also highlighted that these welfare initiatives are being strengthened further. He added that agreements with different hospitals are helping improve medical facilities for special children.
Officials said Punjab Police remains committed to expanding healthcare support programs. The focus is on improving both treatment access and financial relief for affected families.
The ongoing welfare efforts show a structured approach toward supporting children with disabilities and serious diseases. Punjab Police aims to ensure that no deserving child is left without medical assistance.
