Punjab to Establish University of Sports Sciences for Modern Sports Education

Punjab has announced plans to establish Pakistan’s first University of Sports Sciences to improve sports education and strengthen athletic culture. The initiative aims to introduce modern training systems and professional learning across the province.

The announcement was made by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs M Ali during a visit to the Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab. He said the new University of Sports Sciences will include advanced facilities and updated teaching methods. The goal is to support both athletes and sports professionals.

According to officials, the University of Sports Sciences will offer modern infrastructure for training and research. It will focus on areas like coaching, fitness science, and performance analysis. These fields are essential for developing competitive athletes in today’s sports environment.

M Ali said the Punjab Sports Department is working to adopt global best practices. He added that modern techniques are necessary to improve sports standards. The university is expected to play a central role in this transformation.

During the visit, the secretary reviewed an ongoing training program for sports officers and coaches. This program is designed to improve their professional skills. Participants are learning modern coaching methods and event management techniques.

Officials said the training will help coaches develop players more effectively. It will also enable them to organize sports events in a structured way. This step is important for promoting sports at the grassroots level.

M Ali was accompanied by Director Admin Abid Shaukat, ISSP Principal Shaista Qaiser, and senior coach Raisur Rehman. They reviewed the facilities and interacted with trainees during the visit.
