The Punjab government has ordered physical verification of students enrolled in private schools across the province. The move aims to identify fake enrolments and ensure accurate student records.
Under the new instructions, physical verification will be conducted in licensed private schools across all 41 districts of Punjab. The authorities have directed officials to complete the entire process by November 20.
The verification exercise will check whether students listed in school records are actually enrolled and attending classes. Schools found involved in fake enrolment may face strict action. Their licenses could also be revoked if allegations are proven.
To ensure the process runs smoothly, district focal persons and Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) have been assigned specific responsibilities. These officials will supervise and coordinate verification activities within their respective districts.
Assistant Education Officers will personally visit their assigned schools to verify student enrolment. They will be responsible for checking the actual presence of students against official school records.
The authorities have also issued instructions regarding school visits. Licensed private schools must receive information at least one day before the verification team arrives. This requirement will allow schools to prepare for the inspection.
The province-wide exercise will cover licensed schools across Punjab’s 41 districts. Officials have been given a clear deadline to complete the assigned task within the specified timeframe.
The decision comes amid concerns about the accuracy of student enrolment figures in educational institutions. Physical inspections are expected to help authorities identify discrepancies between reported and actual student numbers.
Fake enrolment can affect educational planning, resource allocation, and official student statistics. Therefore, the verification process will help the government maintain more reliable education records.
Schools found violating enrolment requirements could face serious consequences. However, license revocation will depend on whether fake enrolment is established during the verification process.
The November 20 deadline makes the exercise a province-wide priority for education officials. District administrations and Assistant Education Officers will play a central role in completing the inspections.
