The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to intensify its crackdown on illegal housing societies across the district. The authority plans to issue final notices to non-compliant housing schemes.
It has also decided to approach utility companies to seek disconnection of electricity and gas supplies. The move targets housing projects operating without the required approvals and legal documents.
According to official sources, the RDA has prepared a new strategy to control unauthorized residential developments. The plan was developed by the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate. The authority’s Enforcement Squad will also support the implementation.
Under the proposed strategy, the RDA will contact the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO). It will also approach Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). Both companies will be asked to disconnect utility connections to illegal housing schemes.
The action will focus on projects operating without approved layout plans and necessary clearance certificates. These requirements are essential for the legal development of housing societies.
The authority has also directed real estate developers and builders to complete their registration. Housing scheme managements must register through the Housing Scheme Management System (HSMS) portal. They must complete the process within the timeframe specified by the authority.
Developers who ignore these instructions could face legal consequences. Possible actions include sealing site offices and demolishing unauthorized structures. The authority intends to ensure that housing projects follow the required regulations.
In addition, the RDA plans to issue public notices to inform citizens about illegal housing schemes. These notices will warn potential investors against purchasing property in unauthorized projects.
The initiative aims to protect people from financial losses linked to unapproved housing developments. Many buyers invest their savings in residential and commercial properties. Therefore, checking the legal status of a housing scheme remains important.
The RDA has advised residents to verify housing society approvals before making property investments. Citizens can check the legal status of housing projects through the authority’s official website.
The authority has emphasized the importance of confirming approvals before purchasing plots or commercial property. Investors should also ensure that housing schemes have the required layout approvals and clearance certificates.
The latest measures indicate a stronger regulatory approach toward illegal housing developments in Rawalpindi. The authority is expected to coordinate with relevant departments to implement its enforcement strategy.
